2022 Festival Cancellation

Hello and welcome to the Falkland Traditional Music Festival website.

Falkland Traditional Music Festival are very sorry to announce that we will not be holding our event again this year.

We had hoped that we would be able to go ahead even on a smaller scale but have made the difficult decision to postpone it again until 2023 when we hope to be able to run our live events again.

We are very much missing the musical community that comes together each year at our festival and look forward to when we are able to gather again.

We are looking forward to being back in August 2023 for another weekend of great singing and music for everyone. We wish everyone well for the rest of the year and look forward to seeing you again in Falkland soon 🙂

More info on our festival

Falkland Traditional Music Festival is a small and intimate festival set in the heart of Fife. It aims to promote and encourage Scottish traditional music and song through workshops, competitions, sessions and concerts. The workshops allow singers and musicians to develop skills, while competitions help with confidence and improving playing and performance. Our weekend opens with a ceilidh on Friday night to raise the roof and get the festival off to a swinging (or flinging) start. Come and join us!

We trust that you’ll find all the information you need about our music festival right here and via the menu links above, from guests and competitions to where to stay during your visit.

**To get an idea of what happens in a typical festival, please see our Programme page for details of our programme of events for 2018. A PDF copy of our 2018 leaflet can be found here.

The Festival Office is where you can get tickets and competition entry forms, as well as any other information that you should need for the festival.

Throughout the weekend, our guests perform at the concerts as well as taking workshops, and adjudicating competitions so there is plenty of chances to see them over the three days. Singing and instrumental sessions run throughout the weekend and we welcome all musicians and singers to come along and play a tune or sing a song. Either join an existing session or start your own!

    1. Hi Marta, The Bruce Inn and The Stag will be hosting the main festival sessions this year. Both will have sessions from 9pm Friday and Saturday evening (once meals have finished) and also during the day on Saturday and Sunday as well. The Stag is open again and happy to have sessions there over the weekend which is great news for us! If the weather is good, there is space for sessions in the beer garden and courtyard of The Bruce too. We will have a dedicated singing session in Falkland Community Library on Saturday and Sunday afternoon so plenty of places to join in 🙂
